We have a diverse client base that allows our team to work on a wide variety of exciting projects. In addition to cost estimating, we provide scheduling support, construction professional services, Cost and Schedule Risk Analysis (CSRA), value engineering, and research studies. Position Description

To be successful in this role, you should be an experienced cost estimator that is passionate about training and mentoring project and cost estimators and have experience leading a team. You take pride in the quality of the deliverables you submit to your clients. You are an experienced technical writer and have a knack for understanding what the client needs and producing quality estimates and reports. You are client-oriented and focus on cultivating your relationships to further drive business. You are proactive, resourceful, and driven.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead Advanced, High-Level Cost Estimates and Change Orders

    • Scope the project and address any immediate questions or concerns with the client

    • Utilize your resources (project and cost estimators, subcontractors) effectively

    • Ensure hours spent by staff are within acceptable limits

    • Oversight of project estimators including daily reviews, technical support, pricing review, quality control, and deliverables

    • Responsible for technical accuracy of all deliverables

    • Responsible for effective communication between HPG and clients

    • Responsible for financial success of assigned projects

  • Client Management
    • Establish and manage portfolio based on assigned clients and associated projects

    • Maintain constant, professional communication

    • Represent HPG and actively participate in charrettes, workshops, and meetings

    • Provide client-facing presentations

    • Develop and grow client relationships

    • Responsible for CPARS/PPQ Ratings (Contractor Performance Assessment Reporting System that evaluates our performance)

    • Ensure Add Services are appropriately negotiated

    • Directly handle and course-correct client relationship issues

  • Team Leadership

    • ​Accountable for Technical Staff Development and Retention

    • Responsible for mentoring, training and creating an enjoyable and professional work environment for technical staff

  • Business Development

    • Attend BD Events, represent HPG and bring new contacts to BD team's attention

    • Responsible for closing new clients set up by BD team

    • Provide support to BD team as needed

  • Perform Advanced Technical Writing​

    • Project Write-Ups for Proposals

    • Reports and Studies

    • Project Technical Writing

  • Operations Support

    • Become knowledgeable in position KPIs & bonus structure

    • Support operations team with performance assessment meetings of technical staff

  • Lead Special Projects/Engagements including, but not limited to: Cost and Schedule Risk Analysis (CSRA), Research Studies, and PACES Estimates

  • Learn new skillsets to support diversification of HPG's service offerings

  • Meet established Key Performance Indicators (KPI). Example KPIs for a Senior Cost Estimator II include: 90% of Projects in Portfolio have a CPARS and/or PPQ of Exceptional, 65% of Mentored Cost Estimators and Project Estimators Achieve 80% of KPIs, and 80% of Projects in Portfolio are Profitable

  • Maintain project files and contact list in SharePoint according to the HPG process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in the Design, Engineering, Construction Management or Economics industry

  • 7+ years of relevant experience

  • Experience working on projects over $500 million in budget

  • Experience managing a wide range of projects including, but not limited to: federal construction projects, hospitals, and university projects

  • Experience leading and mentoring an estimating team

  • Experience with client management and building client relationships

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including ability to present project information to internal and external stakeholders

  • Strong listening skills capable of understanding and fulfilling client requests and supervisor directives

  • Advanced skill level in MCACES MII, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Crystal Ball, OnScreen Takeoff, and/or other Estimating Software

  • Advanced skill level in Excel

  • Advanced technical writing skills

  • Professional Cost Estimating Certification (CCP or CEP)

  • Possess a membership position in a professional organization such as AFCEA, SAME, etc.

What We Offer You

• Remote work (with occasional travel for client meetings and company meet-ups)
• Salary Range of $150,000 - $166,000
• 401k (eligible after 90 days of employment)
