Hunter Pacific Group is a woman-owned small business that has provided cost estimating services for over 20 years. We have a diverse client base that allows our team of project managers, estimators, schedulers, mechanical and electrical engineers to work on a wide variety of exciting projects. In addition to cost estimating, we provide scheduling support, construction professional services, facilities engineering and Integrated Automation Systems (IAS), Cost and Schedule Risk Analysis (CSRA), value engineering, and research studies. About You

To be successful in this role, you should be passionate about training and mentoring project and cost estimators and have experience leading a team. You take pride in the quality of the deliverables you submit to your clients. You are an experienced technical writer and have a knack for understanding what the client needs and producing quality reports. You are client-oriented and focus on cultivating your relationships to further drive business. You are proactive, resourceful, and driven.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead Advanced, High-Level Cost Estimates and Change Orders
    o Scope the project and address any immediate questions or concerns with the client.
    o Utilize your resources (project and cost estimators, subcontractors) effectively.
    o Time management of project schedule and all resources.
    o Oversight of project estimators including daily reviews, technical support, pricing review, quality control, and deliverables.

  • Client Management
    o Maintain constant, professional communication.
    o Actively participate in charrettes, workshops, and meetings.
    o Provide client-facing presentations.
    o Develop and grow client relationships.

  •  Lead Special Projects
    o Including, but not limited to: Cost and Schedule Risk Analysis (CSRA), Research Studies, and PACES Estimates

  • Perform Advanced Technical Writing
    o Project Write-Ups for Proposals
    o Reports and Studies
    o Project Technical Writing

  • Train and mentor our team of cost and project estimators.

  • Provide proposal support to our project managers. This includes providing input on the level of effort needed and providing any necessary technical information on each proposal. 

  • Meet established Key Performance Indicators (KPI). These are set up on an individual basis and examples for a Senior Cost Estimator include: establishing relationships with new clients, maximizing opportunities with existing clients, responsibility for project P&L, etc.

  • Regularly coordinate with project managers, operation manager, and business development team.

  • Maintain project files and contact list in SharePoint according to the HPG process.

  •  Research prices on material and labor using published documents, local sub-trade conditions, and market studies and develop and nurture subcontractor/vendor relationships.

  • Maintain estimating and cost history databases.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in the Design, Engineering, Construction Management or Economics industry

  • 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Experience working on projects over $100 million in budget 

  • Experience managing a wide range of projects including, but not limited to: federal construction projects, hospitals, and university projects.

  • Experience leading a team

  • Advanced skill level in MCACES MII, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Crystal Ball, OnScreen Takeoff, and/or other Estimating Software.

  • Advanced skill level in Excel.

  • Advanced technical writing skills.

  • Certification in one or more of the following including, but not limited to CEP, CCP, PE, CVS, PMP.

  • Possess a membership position in a professional organization such as AFCEA, SAME, etc.
